The Old Oaks Touring Park |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This award-winning, family-run touring park and campsite offers beautifully landscaped pitches set amongst the peace and tranquillity of the Somerset countryside.
Impeccably kept, spotlessly clean
and open exclusively to adults, it's the perfect location to relax and
unwind.
Larger than average, level, landscaped pitches divided by
trees and shrubs and backing onto mature hedges, ensure a sense of privacy
and space as well as providing a rich nature habitat for birds and other
small animals. We have 48 fully serviced super pitches, 40 hard standings with electric and 9 grass (non-electric) pitches. And for those who enjoy the outdoor life but don’t fancy sleeping under canvas, we have 6 unique Camping Cabins . For those that enjoy walking, the campsite is surrounded by a network of footpaths, the most popular being to the famous Glastonbury Tor (¾ mile) and to the town itself (1 ½ miles from the campsite), but if you are a keen walker there are many more to choose from. The Old Oaks is also an ideal base for cycling. Some excellent cycle routes, many quiet country lanes and the natural beauty of the Somerset levels make the area perfect for exploring by bike. The Somerset nature reserves at Westhay and Shapwick are a must for anyone that enjoys the outdoors and are just a short bike ride away. Bikes are also available to hire from reception from £9 a day. Nestled beneath the farm with a great view of the Tor is our half-acre pond, well stocked with carp, roach and tench. It's situated less than 300 metres from most pitches with good access and parking within 20 metres for the less able. Fishing on the pond is only £3 per half-day, providing great value sport in an idyllic environment. Even if you're not interested in the fish the pond is still well worth a visit for it's beauty alone. The whole park is a haven for wildlife but nowhere more so than at the pond. Foxes, herons and even kingfishers are but a few of the animals that can be spotted here. Located right in the heart of Somerset, The Old Oaks is the ideal base exploring the county’s many treasures;
