Wheems Bothy & Camping

Wheems is a small organic farm overlooking sandy bays and cliffs. There is a small, simple hostel and space for 12 tents.

The Hostel and camping facilities include bedding for hostel, washing machine, water, hot showers and toilets.

Farm produce & basic food requirements are available including organic vegetables and eggs.

There is an artist’s studio with some work for sale.

Wheems is 15 miles south of Kirkwall by road across the causeways that link the islands.

Ferries from mainland Scotland to Stomness are available as well as two ferries to South Ronaldsay itself.

A ferry from John O'Groats in summer carries only foot passengers, but bikes are accepted.

Pentland Ferries travel from Gills Bay and accepts cars.
